Create a new virtual machine configured for either Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2.

To resolve this issue, you must install patch ESXi500-201112001 (Patch 02):

Windows 8 Developer Preview / Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate does not boot on ESXi 5.0.

Boot Camp partitions may not be accessible through Fusion after upgrading to Lion.

The resulting virtual machine can then be used in Fusion running on Lion. VMware recommends that a Snow Leopard-based Mac or vCenter Stand-Alone Converter be used to migrate an existing PC. This is due to a change in file sharing components.

The Migration Assistant, included with VMware Fusion, is not compatible with Mac OS X Lion.
